COVID-19 Update: Colorado Safer at Home Guidelines for McAir Aviation Operations – Phase Two (Effective May 19, 2020)


McAir Aviation is closely monitoring developments and tracking information regarding the COVID-19 Coronavirus. We are committed to our aviation community and we will begin to open our operations and operational procedures in accordance with our county, state and federal governments. We have been taking proactive measures to support the health and welfare of our customers, employees, and the communities where we operate and serve. It is our highest priority.


Effective May 19, 2020, additional aircraft will be available, we will be following all Safe at Home protocols set by Jefferson County and the State of Colorado. Our operations will still be limited, and we will continue to abide by all social distancing regulations.

  • Social distancing will be required, and additional signage will be placed throughout the campus
  • Additional aircraft and simulator(s) will be available, each airplane will be scheduled to complete one mission once per day, this will be dependent on the CFI and the number of concurrent flights he/she schedules within that day (Aircraft scheduling and availability will be subject to change)
    • Limited to the CFI and Student only (No additional back seat passengers)
    • Flights will be staggered so they will be scheduled every 15 minutes
  • Front Desk Operations will be open from (8am-5pm), the Front Desk Dispatching team will proctor all PSI tests and support the after-hour dispatch process
    • Social Distance Required (adhere 6ft distance)
    • All staff, students, visitors, and customers will be required to wear face mask while on on-site (Cloth, Ski Mask, etc…)
    • Hand sanitizer will be available at all entrances
    • Limit the number of customers and team members to four (4) within the dispatch area
    • Common areas will remain closed and limited
    • Employees that can work from home will continue to do so, where applicable
    • Upon entry into the building, all employees/students/customers will be required to participate in a basic health assessment, this health assessment will be administered by a third party medical provider.
  • Dispatch/Sanitation Team will be completed full disinfection process on each aircraft daily
    • Ongoing - All aircraft will get a complete deep clean and sterilization (interior - vacuum, wash with sterile soap and water, sanitize, and disinfect spray)
    • Additional steps will be taken during the dispatch, including sanitation cleaning of the log-books and keys between flights
  • Ground Instruction and Debriefing will be completed via Zoom, no in-office instruction
  • All utilized areas will be cleaned and wiped down 3 to 4 times a day, this will include the front dispatch area, break room, after hour dispatch area, classroom, and simulator room. Including the office area within the maintenance building
  • Reinforced employee health & safety guidelines, including proper hand-washing & hygiene
  • Full cleaning service and sterilization will be completed by a 3rd party cleaning service – daily
  • For all students, customers, and staff…. If you are not feeling well or if you have any symptoms that are indicative of COVID-19, please remain home and refrain from any activity
  • Effective May 19, 2020, the PSI Testing Center (FAA and Non-FAA) will re-open, we will have a limit of two (2) testing desks available
