McAir Aviation is approved by the Colorado State Approving Agency to offer Veteran Benefits through the Montgomery GI Bill ® to those who qualify.

GI Bill® is a registered trademark of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). More information about education benefits offered by VA is available at the official U.S. government Web site at https://www.benefits.va.gov/gibill.

Under Chapter 30, a veteran may use his or her benefits for flight training and be reimbursed up to 60 percent of the flight training costs. The courses that McAir Aviation is approved to offer are the Instrument Pilot Rating, Commercial Pilot and Multi-Engine Ratings.

GI Bill ® benefits may not be used for any portion of training for the Private Pilot certificate because obtaining that certification alone does not allow pilots to earn money. The VA is clear that the GI Bill ® benefits are only to be utilized in support of education and training that can lead to a paying job.

To be eligible, you must have a private pilot certificate and Second-Class Medical Certificate. To start you must fill out the VA form 22-1990. If you are currently enrolled in another school, such as a college or tech school and receiving benefits, file VA Form 22-1995. Once you have completed the form, bring in a copy of the filed form along with your DD-214. If you are in the Guard or Reserves a copy of your Notice of Basic Eligibility (NOBE).

At the end of each month, VA approved students will hand in a training log of all training activities to be certified to the VA. Payments from the VA typically take 2- 4 weeks after they receive the training certifications from our school. You can pick up a copy of the Veterans Information Bulletin (VIB) for a full explanation.

Enrolled at a University?

McAir Aviation has articulation agreements with Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology and Metro State University Denver. These colleges are participating in the Post-9/11 GI Bill ® Yellow Ribbon Program, which agrees to make additional funds available for those who qualify towards an education program without an additional charge to your GI Bill entitlement.

These institutions voluntarily enter into a Yellow Ribbon Agreement with VA and choose the amount of tuition and fees that will be contributed. VA matches that amount and issues payments directly to the institution.
