Altitude AERO Day Provides Aviation Discovery for Aspiring Pilots

[Broomfield, Colorado, May, 1, 2024] — Ever wonder what type of training is required to become a pilot? McAir Aviation, located in Broomfield, Colorado at Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport (BJC), is hosting Altitude AERO Day on Saturday, May 4th an interest-sparking, hands-on event that invites high school seniors and anyone interested in receiving a behind-the-scenes look at aviation flight training and where to begin. The on-campus event will cover everything related to airplanes, avionics, weather, and airspace. “The Pilot you become depends on where you begin.” - McAir Aviation.

In 2023, McAir Aviation and Allegiant Air teamed up to launch the Altitude Pilot Pathway. This specially designed educational path delivers FAA Part 141 ab initio pilot training with customized courses and experiences to enhance preparedness for pilot opportunities at Allegiant. Altitude Pilot Pathway cadets will meet senior Allegiant executives and get to know the airline, home bases, and culture, both in-person and through an exclusive online community. Additionally, cadets will have priority opportunities to become an Altitude CFI and build their required flight hours.

“The Altitude program is a closed loop pathway for cadets to become Allegiant pilots,” said Tyler Hollingsworth, Allegiant’s senior vice president of flight operations. “Cadets are mentored through the certification process, which eases their transition from the training world to the Part 121 world.”

Altitude AERO Day will provide an immersive experience for guests through engaging activities and interactive experiences. Live training demonstrations will take place on-site, along with participation certificates for guests who are interested in starting or expanding their aviation portfolios. Additionally, attendees will learn about McAir's commitment to making an impact on the aviation industry while addressing the essential need for supporting the pilot pipeline. The event offers three sessions to accommodate attendee schedules.
