Broomfield, CO — (June 1, 2026) McAir Aviation has received approval from the Federal Aviation Administration for FAA Part 141 Examining Authority for its Instrument Rating course, marking another major milestone in the academy’s professional pilot training program.
The approval allows eligible students to complete the required end-of-course practical test/certification process within the school’s FAA-approved Part 141 program.
McAir Aviation previously earned FAA Examining Authority for its Private Pilot course in October 2024. The newly approved Instrument Rating examining authority, granted in March 2026, represents continued recognition from the FAA of the academy’s operational consistency, instructional quality, and student performance outcomes.
“This achievement reflects the high standards our team continues to uphold across every area of flight training operations,” said Terry DiManna, Director of Academic Operations at McAir Aviation. “Earning Examining Authority for the Instrument Rating course demonstrates the FAA’s confidence in the quality, consistency, and professionalism of our training environment.”
FAA Examining Authority is granted to Part 141 schools that meet FAA requirements for training quality, oversight, student performance, and pass-rate standards. Schools must maintain exceptional pass rates and comply with rigorous FAA standards before authorization is approved.
The expanded authority is expected to provide significant benefits for students by reducing dependency on external FAA Designated Pilot Examiner scheduling, a challenge that continues to impact flight training organizations nationwide.

What This Means for McAir Aviation Flight Students
Tom Rogers, Chief Flight Instructor at McAir Aviation, said the approval further strengthens the academy’s ability to prepare students for advanced professional aviation operations.
“The Instrument Rating is one of the most important and demanding phases of professional pilot development,” Rogers said. “This authorization allows us to deliver a more seamless training experience while continuing to develop safe, confident, and highly competent aviators prepared for the next stages of their careers.”
McAir Aviation leadership also recognized the strong collaboration between flight operations, maintenance, scheduling, instructors, and FAA representatives that contributed to the achievement.
“This milestone reflects the dedication and professionalism of our entire team,” said Dr. Todd Cellini, Chief Academic and Operations Officer. “From operational coordination to instructional excellence, every department contributed to creating the level of consistency and performance required to earn this approval. Most importantly, this advancement directly benefits our students as they progress toward professional aviation careers.”
Rob Polston, Chief Executive Officer of McAir Aviation, said the achievement aligns with the organization’s broader mission of developing aviation professionals equipped for long-term success.
“This is a tremendous accomplishment for McAir Aviation and a meaningful benefit for our students and instructors,” Polston said. “We are proud of the culture of excellence our team continues to build and grateful for their commitment to developing highly skilled pilots who are prepared to succeed from their very first certificate through advanced professional training.”
