At McAir, you can rest assured knowing that our 4-step process helps you prepare to start training for a career as a commercial pilot.

• Age and Valid Identification Documents
  
  • Although the FAA allows you to start flying as early as 14 years old, you are required to be 17 years old to obtain your Private Pilot certification (“License”). Also, you must be able to provide a valid passport and/or driver’s license. If you are an international student, the FAA requires that you can read, write, understand, and speak English. Also, you will need an I-20 Visa.
• FAA Third Class Medical Certificate
  
  • An exam from an FAA-designated Airman Medical Examiner (AME) is needed to receive your First-Class Medical Certificate. Our team can provide a list of local AMEs for you, or you can choose your own.
• In-Person Tour and Interview
  
  • Visit our training center to tour our facilities and have an in-person interview with our team.
• Financing
  
  • Our flight training operates on a "pay-as-you-go" basis, allowing you the flexibility to either arrange a cash payment agreement or explore financing options through a lender to cover the training costs. McAir can furnish a list of potential lenders offering financing specifically for flight training to eligible individuals. It's important to note that McAir is not directly involved in any external funding arrangements. Regardless of your choice, our dedicated team is available to address any queries you may have. Outside of weather-related events, McAir conducts flight training 7 days a week, 363 days per year (closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas). Your flight training schedule can be tailored to what works best for you - on your own schedule and at your own pace.
